5A: School Resources and Budget
The school executive establishes budget processes and systems which are focused on, and result, in improved student achievement.
Budget Project
During my residency, I had the opportunity to be a part of a school budgeting class with Dr. Eddie Price, (Johnston County). In this class, I learned about the budget process, budget codes, and how to allocate and prioritize funds. After analyzing the school's data, I allocated local, state, and federal funds for the upcoming school year. Below you will find a copy of my completed budget project, and a video of my recommendations.

5B: Conflict Management and Resolution
The school executive effectively and efficiently manages the complexity of human interaction so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement.
Conflict management and resolution plays an important role in student achievement. One of the 6th grade classes at Martin Millennium had problems with student and teacher relationships. I worked with the guidance counselor in facilitating restorative practices in the classroom. As a result, both students and the classroom teacher developed skills to improve conflict. Below are audios of a restorative circle with the school guidance counselor and 6th grade class.

5C: Systematic Communication
The school executive designs and utilizes various forms of formal and informal communication so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement.
Family and School Communication
Internal and external communication are key components in leadership. During my principal residency at Martin Millennium Academy, I strategically planned how I communicated with our families and staff. I used Blackboard to send connect-ed messages concerning upcoming events. I also sent a weekly newsletter to our staff to provide them a week at a glance (WAAG) concerning announcements, upcoming events, and staff shout outs. Below I have included a copy of a connect-ed and a link to our staff's weekly newsletter.

5D: School Expectations for Student and Staff
The school executive develops and enforces expectations, structures, rules and procedures for students and staff.
Minor Incident Report
During the first half of the school year, Martin Millennium had a high number of office discipline referrals. In order to decrease the number of office referrals, I worked with the PBIS team to implement a plan of action that will improve student behaviors and minimize the amount minor incidents reported as major offenses . As a result, teachers record minor incidents on a school created form and I track the minor incidents. Since implementation, office discipline referrals have decreased.
