Change Management: Effectively engages staff and community in the change process in a manner that ensures their support of the change and its successful implementation. |
Edgecombe County Public Schools implemented the "Get Better, Faster" model." After receiving training, I worked with the administrative team to push this initiative at our school. Teachers chose a coach based on coaches' strengths and teachers' needs. I met with teachers weekly to provide feedback and next action steps. See Standard Two for artifact. |
Conflict Management: Anticipates or seeks to resolve confrontations, disagreements, or complaints in a constructive manner. |
Student and teacher relationships are very important of the school day. As a school leader, I held several restorative meetings with teachers and students to resolve disagreements. Click here to access a Student Concerns Report |

In order to maximize student learning I worked with the 8th grade math teacher in flipping her classroom so she could become more accessible for scholars. Refer to Standard Three; Flipped Classroom for artifact. |
Customer Focus: Understands the students as customers of the work of schooling and the servant nature of leadership and acts accordingly. |
In order to provide a collective perspective from students, I worked with the 7th grade team to implement a "Teacher's Concern Report." This provided students with a voice in the classroom. Click here to access the Student Concerns Report |

Emotional Intelligence: Is able to manage oneself through self awareness and self management and is able to manage relationships through empathy, social awareness and relationship management. This competency is critical to building strong, transparent, trusting relationships throughout the school community. |
I met with middle school students during lunch and POWER time to address challenging issues they were facing. These meetings helped me to build strong relationships with our middle school scholars. |
Environmental Awareness: Becomes aware and remains informed of external and internal trends, interests and issues with potential impacts on school policies, practices, procedures and positions. |
The environment surrounding the school has a great impact on school policies and practices. I interacted with community members during several events held in the community and at school. Evidence of Emotional Awareness is found under standard Standard SixA. |
Global Perspective: Understands the competitive nature of the new global economy and is clear about the knowledge and skills students will need to be successful in this economy. |
Martin Millennium Academy is the only global school in Edgecombe county. I worked with our international teachers and traditional teachers in planning and providing a true global learning environment for our scholars. I also helped facilitate a global panel discussion with school visitors, students and teachers. Evidence of this can be found in Standard Three B. |

Organizational Ability: Effectively plans and schedules one’s own and the work of others so that resources are used appropriately, such as scheduling the flow of activities and establishing procedures to monitor projects. |
As a school administrator, I worked with my mentor principal throughout the school year to complete teacher evaluations using the NCEES system. I followed the observation scheduled, we created as a team. Evidence of this artifact is found in Standard FourC. |
Personal Ethics and Values: Consistently exhibits high standards in the areas of honesty, integrity, fairness, stewardship, trust, respect, and confidentiality. |
During my residency, I encountered several issues concerning ethics and integrity with parents, stsff, and students. As a school leader, I upheld high standards and complete confidentiality in each case. As a result, the trust and respect level increased with all involved parties. |
Personal Responsibility for Performance: Proactively and continuously improves performance by focusing on needed areas of improvement and enhancement of strengths; actively seeks and effectively applies feedback from others; takes full responsibility for one’s own achievements. |
As a reflective leader, I constantly seek opportunities for improvement and growth. During my residency, I met regularly with my executive coach and my mentor principal. I considered their feedback and applied it to enhance my growth. |
Responsiveness: Does not leave issues, inquiries or requirements for information go unattended. Creates a clearly delineated structure for responding to requests/ situations in an expedient manner. |
As a school leader, I have created a sense of urgency in responding to situations and requests. I follow up with emails and phone calls within 24 hours. |

As a school leader, I worked with teachers during PLC's to analyze student data. We used the information to form improve instruction and create intervention plans for students. Artifacts are found in Standard FourA. |

During my residency, I worked closely with a student whose mother was critically ill. This student returned to our school from the alternative program in early November. I was very intentional about building a relationship and providing support for this student. |
Systems Thinking: Understands the Interrelationships and impacts of school and district influences, systems and external stakeholders, and applies that understanding to advancing the achievement of the school or team. |

Technology: Effectively utilizes the latest technologies to continuously improve the management of the school and enhance student instruction. |
In order to assist teachers in improving student communication skills and enhancing technology within the classroom, I worked with several teachers to implement flipgrid. Evidence of this can be found in Standard Three D. |
Time Management: Effectively uses available time to complete work tasks and activities that lead to the achievement of desired work or school results. Runs effective meetings. |
Effective use of time is critical in each day. In order to maximize my time effectively, I created a notebook that contains folders of to-do task for the day and week. |
Visionary: Encourages Imagineering by creating an environment and structure to capture stakeholders dreams of what the school could become for all the students. |
One of my roles as MTSS chair was to help the team redefine their purpose. As a result, we created the team's compelling why statement. Evidence of this competency is found under Standard One B. |
